9. The design brief The members of the delegation reported back to their classes about what they had seen in Coventry city centre and about good design for public spaces. The classes discussed the sorts of things that should be part of the design brief for those in charge of designing the artwork/levelling stone for the Dell. From the discussions in the four classes, the following design brief was drawn up: - It should have lots of openings which people can look through (at all heights so that everyone from reception to year 6 can use it) and all different perspectives. - It should use colours and textures and different types of materials. - It should be sturdy and not fall over. - It should make people want to play with it but not climb on it. - It must be weatherproof. - It should be abstract, historical and reflect the different habitats of the school and learning. - It shouldn't be too big. |
