» The Art Crowd
Coventry based food and drink outlets have teamed up with The Art Crowd, a new partnership of local arts organisations, to encourage residents and cultural visitors to the city to sample their offerings and support the local arts economy into the bargain.
Twisted Barrel Brewery and Tap House at Fargo Village, Wicked Cookies on the Station Concourse and Bean and Leaf Coffee House on Hertford Street have all identified a product on their menu for which they will make a small donation to The Art Crowd from every sale.
The Art Crowd, is made up of four local organisations, all based at Coventry Artspace, Eaton House. The partnership includes The Coventry Biennial, The Photo Archive Miners, Talking Birds and Coventry Artspace. Details of the money raised will published on the partnership's new webpage at www.coventryartcrowd.co.uk, and will be distributed between the 4 organisations to support their work with local artists.
Mindy Chillery of Coventry Artspace said, "We are really excited to be working with local business and our cultural partners to build these positive links. We've chosen food and drink businesses that are like us - home grown in Coventry with an ethical approach to their practices - and we hope more will join us in the course of the year. The initiative will be mutually beneficial - we will raise some extra cash for some of the smaller arts organisations in the city, while at the same time encouraging local and City of Culture audiences to visit some of our favourite places for refreshment!"
