twenty four piers is a two year snapshot of Britain via its seaside piers.

Over 24 months [April 2004 - March 2006] Talking Birds will be visiting 24 seaside piers, meeting 24 people and collecting 24 stories, with the help of one of the 24 fictional characters (such as the Firebrand and the Meteorologist) who have been washed up around the coastline.

Over time, the stories and sounds, truths and fictions, real and made up characters, chinese whispers and emails that we collect will become mixed up in the telling and re-telling, eventually meandering into one cumulative mythical travellers yarn; twenty four stories, about twenty four piers, finally becoming one long story about one long pier...
